Liyu Chen

M.A.Sc. Environmental Engineering

Liyu Chen’s research included the investigation of dissolved oxygen, temperature and chlorophyll distribution as well as the bathymetry and fluid velocity in a stormwater pond. The motivation of the research was to assess the generation process of H2S in a stormwater pond located in south Ottawa. In the latter phase of the research, models were built by using Mike3 to investigate how hydraulics and contaminate fate and transport based on input rate kinetics. Thus, it was be possible to utilize the rate kinetics identified in the water quality component to drive predictions of H2S production in the pond.
